Neil Faulkner

Dr Neil Faulkner is a professional archaeologist and is the editor of the magazine Current Archaeology.
Faulkner read political economy at King’s College, Cambridge and later became a teacher before turning to archaeology; he took his doctorate at the Institute of Archaeology, London, with a study of late Roman towns.
Faulkner was brought up in the Weald and was educated at The Skinners' School, Tunbridge Wells.
Faulkner is well-known as both a tour guide and lecturer, and has directed excavations for the tv programme, the Time Team. He is probably best known for his long-running excavations at Sedgeford, in Norfolk as part of a project to establish and reconstruct the story of human settlement in the parish.
Faulkner has written five books:
- The Decline and Fall of Roman Britain,
- Apocalypse, the story of the Jewish revolt
- The great Jewish revolt against Rome, AD 66-73
- Rome: empire of the eagles, 753 BC - AD 476 and
- Hidden Treasure (for the BBC).
