Hi, I'm NeciFiX, uhh... Well, I've used Wikipedia for quite some time but not sure on these Wikiprojects but I think I got the hang of it. At the moment, I'm creating my first Wiki article (with a quick 10 minute study and browse of the creating article section so I got the hang of the basics) it's about P. Primuliflora (I'm quite aggrivated that there isn't a lot of Pinguicula articles, even though Pinguicula isn't my favourite CP).

I've only been growing CP's for over a month, but I've amassed quite the collection (30 or so CP's, many are in the same pots since about 10 are Dionaea, I also have a Heliamphora Minor on it's way, which will find it's lowlander habitat filled due to the warm mist humidifier I just purchased!) and Cephalotus 'German Giant', Byblis Linifolia, Stylidium Debile (Stylidium is quite interesting) and Aldrovanda (held off due to gathering of supplies) I currently grow many basic plants, but I do have N. Medusa, a combination of Belli and Sibuyanensis, which is on its way to pitchering I hope, I'm also going to make a division of it from a large stalk I'm cutting off in a few days, and it made a basal shoot (which I picked off, not a good idea, then accidentally pulled off one of it's two little leaves, but it's planted, I hope it turns out OK!). The plants I am doing best with is Dionaea and my P. Primuliflora, since the Dionaea are trying to flower, have multiple traps coming in, and look nice, I even have a VFT with traps over an inch and blood red inside! And the Primuliflora is flowering.

Well, I won't keep ya! It's nice to be in this Wikiproject. I go to CPUKForums.co.uk by the way, great place!

I've created an article with a taxo box, sections, description and an image of P. Primuliflora. But it hasn't shown up yet or something.

Here it is, nevermind: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinguicula_Primuliflora of course, when you type in P. Primuliflora, it doesn't show up. I may edit it's title to P. Primuliflora so it does.

Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

So what this means is that the image you uploaded lacks a tag on the page to tell Wikipedians what the source of the image is. Did you take the photo? If not, where did you get it from? Is it copyrighted? Is it in the public domain or released under a free license tag like GFDL? Let us know and we can place the appropriate tag on it. I got it from CobraPlant.com, in the "Carnivorous Plant e-Book" they allow you to use all the images for free use if you buy it, but their copyright will still be on it. So I was allowed to use it via purchasing the e-Book which I did.

Also, I see you touched up the P. Primuliflora page! That's cool! I'll be sure to include Bionamial names and Synonyms in other pages I make.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by NeciFiX (talk • contribs).

Could you link to the website where it says the photo is fair use? It doesn't seem like we will be able to use that image. I don't think we will be able to use the photo as it wouldn't really pass WP:FAIR. Even if the image is rather small and only a part of the whole work, the image is copyrighted and a free image can be found elsewhere (the species is found readily in cultivation, correct? Perhaps taking a photo yourself would be easier). The photo will be deleted if no fair use statement is used on the page. And even then the fair use statement may not be sufficient.
And yes! I did do a small copyedit on the Pinguicula primuliflora article. Nice work! Just a few notes:
When writing a species name, you should stick to our manual of style guidelines in that it should be italicized. You can do this by adding two apostrophes in front of and at the back of a word you want to italicize (i.e. ''Pinguicula primuliflora'' will produce Pinguicula primuliflora). Also do remember that the species name "primuliflora" is always lowercase: Pinguicula primuliflora instead of Pinguicula Primuliflora.
When creating an article, try to cite your sources. Review WP:CITE and WP:V for more information on sources and citations. All contributions should be verifiable. Remember to try to write in a style that is good form for an encyclopedia and not a how-to site. See Pinguicula moranensis for an excellent article that has all kinds of ideas for how you can expand articles (i.e. taxonomy, botanical history, etc.).
Watch your capitalization. Such as above in your comment, "Binomial" and "Synonyms" should be lowercase (just an example, capitalization guidelines don't really apply on talk pages but they do in the regular article space). They're not proper nouns. Review WP:MOS for our manual of style guidelines for more information on capitalization.
One more thing--when adding a message to a talk page you should always "sign" it with four tildas: "~~~~". That will produce a link to your name and the time stamp. Keep up the good work, I look forward to working with you more! --Rkitko (talk) 22:15, 10 March 2007 (UTC)


Ahh, I do not have a camera (I come from an extremely poor family) I could take a screenshot of where it said this, but I'd rather not. Delete the image. I did not cite my resources due to collecting them from 80 different websites and putting them in my memory.

I'm not going to write anymore articles --- the whole thing seems way too strict and I do not have perfect grammar and spelling. I may just leave the group because I just mess things up. NeciFiX 22:45, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it can be a bit overwhelming at first. I made quite a few mistakes on my first couple articles, but I went through and read all of Wikipedia's guidelines and through discussion with other editors, I was able to figure (almost) everything out here. I'm confident you could do the same. It may seem strict because this is an encyclopedia and we must maintain fairly high standards. Your contributions are valuable! You haven't messed anything up, we just need to introduce you to our style guidelines and policies. (And thanks to you, we're now one article closer to our goal of describing all carnivorous plant species!) Consider sticking around and learning more about Wikipedia. Ask us questions you may have about it. And above all, don't view our edits after yours as fixing mistakes but rather a way to copyedit each other's work. No, it's fine. I've already un-edited my name out of the group. I know I'm just a burden, so that's it. Sorry for editing some articles. I've already damaged some of the articles by inputting false information and making you go and edit the article I made.
