The company was promoted by Sanjiv Goyal and incorporated in June 1995 as Surya Medicare Limited, with financial collaboration from the Punjab State Industrial Development Corp. (PSIDC). Its name was changed to Nectar Lifesciences in Mar. 2004 after it bought out PSIDC. Nectar Lifesciences went public in July 2005 with simultaneous listings on Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India.
