Near Eastern Studies is the study of ancient cultures of the Ancient Near East such as ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Syria-Palestine, Persia and Anatolia. There are many schools concerned with this field, among them the Department of Near Eastern Studies at the Johns Hopkins University in the U.S..
