Congrats you have been graduated with flying colours from WP:ADOPT, I am sure you will go on to be an excellent wikipedia editor - but I accept your proviso - I will always be on hand to help you out with any questions or issues you might ever have, so do not hesitate to ask.

This is just a friendly reminder that Wikipedia Weekly has been released with a new episode!

This is a special episode we recored specifically dealing w/ the whole Essjay/Ryan Jordan situation. We recorded this before Jimbo's second comment, so it might be a little dated but still a good listen.

[edit] Air Force Article

Well, I really wanted to clean up that mess, but for the longest time I had no idea what I was doing. I've been doing the whole wikipedia thing now for only a couple of months and didn't want to bother researching what box went where. Finally last night I decided that enough was enough and I searched through the muck and just redid it.

BTW, I was a SAC brat. My dad was a BUFF crewmember, worked on the U-2 with the automated/non-automated electronic defense systems, and flew on the Cobra Ball back when it flew out of Shemya. He also spent 2 tours at SAC/STRATCOM HQ BQZip01 14:56, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: User or talk page vandalism

Ah, so if the user itself blanks the page, it's OK and I most likely shouldn't revert, or should at least discuss changes then? (I know that there would be exception if reverting a personal attack.) Typically, I recalled that page blanking and page replacing are always reverted, unless the creator did it. And you were the creator, so you were entitled to blank it. You weren't vandalizing. This, however, I think that I wouldn't need to discuss changes on reverting for a user or talk page. Is it safe not to talk changes when reverting a blanked version of an article?--Wikipedier (talk contribs) 23:33, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Yup, that example should definitely be taken out, shot, ran over with a very large truck, shot again (for good measure), buried, and then reverted. Obvious vandalism like that is surely OK to revery on sight. On the other hand, I was doing some maintenance in my userspace (blanking some pages to prepare for some new material I have for new articles).
Most of the time, if the user is the one doing something in his userspace, it's OK. Again, most of the time.... There are always exceptions to every rule (except for the taken out, etc. example above).... At the very least, discuss it with the user if there's any question about it. As for articlespace or mainspace, if someone blanks a page (especially if it's an anonymous IP, but even a registered user can still vandalize), assume vandalism and revert, then if there's still any doubt, ask on the article talk page.
You're doing a great thing - looking for vandalism, stupid additions, page blanking, etc., and reverting it. I don't have the patience to deal with all that stuff, nor do I have the inclination to try and learn patience to deal with it. I applaud anyone who goes vandal-hunting. Just one thing - shoot verified vandals on sight - show no mercy!  ;-)
Again, thanks for the thought, don't let this slow you down, treat it as a learning experience (as I have), and keep on keeping on! - NDCompuGeek 06:42, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re: WP:Musical Instrument

你好

Greetings-

I am a member of the Musical Instrument WP, and I am about to attempt to write the talk page project templatewish me luck!. My question is: do you want to have an "importance" scale as well as a "quality" scale, and is there any other information you might want the template to have (review processes, portal inclusions, automatic entry into certain categories, etc.). Just wondering! - NDCompuGeek 05:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

你好! I would like both quality and importance, but the importance should only appear if it is "Top" importance. I've found that if it appears for every subcategory (Mid, Low, etc importance), it just clutters up the talk page, and it makes certain people feel like X article isn't important enough. Definitely keep all the sub-cats of "quality" visible, though. :) Thanks much, Fang Aili talk 18:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption or something

Hello. Looking at your thingy (I think that should be a word. I use it alot) on the Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area/Adopters page, I see that out personalities actually (almost) match (no not the thing that lights things on fire). Any way when I look at your user page, you said you wanted to return that adopting favor. And the first user box on my page should show an opportunity for you. Let me know if your interested! Sincerely, Sir Intellegent 20:48, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Aside from you looking at my thingy (you know, there are Peeping Tom laws....), I think we could do this adoption. If you're willing, I can drop a "I'm adopted by the Geek" userbox on your page, and drop a "I adopted this guy who can't even spell his username" userbox on mine.  ;-) Let me know what you think! (and quit peeking at my thingy!) - NDCompuGeek 03:59, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
you are clear for takeoff! (that means yes you can). And I think we should like, kind-of limit our conversations to one talk page (oh, oops....) Sir Intellegent 22:33, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re: WP:Musical Instrument template

你好 you know, I've said it for years, but only since corresponding with you have I ever written it! - I finished the rough draft for the first template, let me know what you think: User:NDCompuGeek/WIP/project5. The image is just a placeholder (unless you think a frog playing the guitar is a good representative picture....), so don't shoot me too bad for it.  ;-)) There will be a derivitave of this talkbox for use on appropriate categories, as well as the "real" template talkbox, with all the bells and whistles and trimmings and shtuff. Please be kind! - NDCompuGeek 10:00, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Looks good to me! (Except, of course, for the frog picture. ;) I made a few minor edits. Keep in mind though that I don't know much about coding.. I can only comment on aesthetics. I've created a few of these templates, but I just copied the code of another project's and replaced the categories and picture. Also, I've been spending less time on Wikipedia lately, so if I'm not that active at the project, that's why. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 14:39, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the capitalization correction.... As for your RL issues - good luck! (Don't know how to write it in Chinese, so English will have to do!) I'm sure someone of your calibre will have NO problem getting into whatever school/college/university you wish! Minot State University needs good people too ("my" university).... BTW - almost done with the main template at User:NDCompuGeek/WIP/project4, if you want to take a peek when it's done. Should be later today sometime, I hope.... - NDCompuGeek 14:48, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Hehe.. my RL is going great, and it seems that the more and better things that happen off-line, the less time I spend on-line. So it's a good thing. :) Great job with the WikiProject templates. Oh, if you want some Wikipedia-related Chinese, see my zh userpage: zh:User:Fang Aili. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 18:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
      • I think I'm done with the project template.... - NDCompuGeek 15:06, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
      • Now, what should it be named?.... - NDCompuGeek 16:32, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
How about {{WPMI}}? --Fang Aili talk 18:39, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
