Naze Nani Nadesico

"Naze Nani Nadesico" ("The How and Why of Nadesico") is a plot device from the anime series, Martian Successor Nadesico. It appears in Episodes 7 and 25 and also in clip show format in Episode 14.

This segment features Ruri in overalls and Yurika in a bunny suit and Inez Fressange spouting off terminology that only a physicist can understand. The segment covers things such as Nadesico's phase transition propulsion system, the gravity wave cannon, and boson jumps. It was written to "teach children how the ship works", and as such appears to be oriented towards children.

At first, both Goat Hory and Mr. Prospector were opposed to the idea, mainly due to the fact that Inez shot the first episode while the Nadesico was severely damaged and needed to conserve its remaining power. In the end, however, "Naze Nani Nadesico" provides some useful, if hard to digest information to both the crew and viewers, as well as inspiring the ship's engineer Seiya Uribitake with ideas for a new figurine of the captain.

"Naze Nani Nadesico" is the inspiration for devices such as the popular webcomic Megatokyo 's "Naze Nani Megatokyo" and the H-game Heart de Roommate 's "Naze Nani Hato Roo".
