[edit] Bartolomeo Minio
Hi Diana, I'm terribly sorry to hear about the plagiarism of your work. In fact, I ought to have spotted it myself: I had that page on my watchlist for a while because it had been the work of a certain user who had a long history of plagiaristic edits and other problematic work. Here's what happened: That user created the article as a tiny unsourced "stub" [1], then another user found your dissertation and added it as a reference with a short summary ([2]), then the other guy went and copied all that text from your book ([3]).
Please feel free to do whatever you like with the article now, or leave me a note about what you would like done with it. We can of course just delete the plagiarized text - it's sort of not very well integrated into the style of an encyclopedia article anyway, is it? Probably the best qualified person to replace it with a decent, concise summary would be you...
I see you've been making some other useful edits elsewhere, so I have hope you'll actually end up liking Wikipedia after all :-) Fut.Perf. ☼ 09:50, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry and Pleased to Meet You
Hello Mrs. Wright and I would like to be frank and apologize for the whole incident pertaining to the act of plagiarism on my part. Though, I must say it was very difficult for me to paraphrase what you wrote in your dissertation since your writing style was very coherent and comprehensible in your description of Bartolomeo Minio's life. If you wish for me to remove the plagiarized text, then I will do so upon your immediate request. I would be honored to help in any way to rectify this mistake. I hope that you will allow for your invaluable information to be included (as you see fit of course) into the Bartolomeo Minio article. I await for your response. Thank you for writing. I will edit the material to make it conform more to the style of an encyclopedia.Nauplion 21:27, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Geia Nauplion...
Fut.Perf. recommended you for ...fishing! Well, I'm fishing for new members in the Greek history project. Like the bait? -> Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Greece#Members •NikoSilver• 22:11, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's some friends who are forming a collaboration project on Greek history. I'm sure they'd love to have you around with your expertise. I took the freedom of forwarding your name to Niko. Hope you don't mind. Fut.Perf. ☼ 22:17, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
That's very kind but I cannot make any promises just now, but I am glad to look in, poke around, help edit, etc. I am currently translating Nikos Gatsos for my web site http://nauplion.net, translating 60 letters written 1500-1502 about Crete, and working on a publication project of the diplomatic documents for the 1499-1503 Venetian-Ottoman war.
