[edit] NPOV
The chemicals used in some cleaning products are toxic, but to put everything as toxic is a little much. Sufuric acid and phosphates as toxic chemicals and known carcinogens is also problematic, as phosphate is esential for live. While some esential oils are also toxic and are likely to cause allergic reactions.--Stone 07:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Natural vs. safe
I think we need a source if we're going to claim that one class of products is safer than another. Just because a product is natural doesn't imply that it is safe, or even that it is safer than a non-natural alternative. Sagsaw 01:34, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Definitely - people often make the strange assumption that "natural" = "safe". Plutonium and uranium are natural but not very safe. Destynova 14:04, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Revision
I've removed a lot of content which didn't cite a specific source. One thing that would be very useful for this article would be a side-by-side comparison of the active ingredients in specific natural vs. non-natural cleaning products and their health effects.
[edit] Cleaning equipment
I know this shouldn't really be a guide to greener cleaning but do you think a small section (or new article) is warranted on natural cleaning equipment such as cellulose sponges, natural latex gloves, glass jars(!), etc? Rogwan 12:15, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- Probably a section here unless it grows to the point of justifying its own stub or full article. I do have a couple of concerns, from a factual and NPOV standpoint, about this article. First: We need to avoid implying that a natural product is safer, more environmentally friendly, etc. than a "conventional" product without a specific source. Second, rather than making a list of natural vs. conventional products (which is essentially what the article was before I edited it) we should probably stick to well-sourced comparisons of natural cleaning products/equipment vs. their "conventional" alternatives. [edit] Possible merge
Hello. I'm tempted to recommend this article be merged with Green cleaning. The latter needs some improvement but I think as two merged articles, it would be stronger. There is also a problem with the latter's title. Although the term Green is commonly used, it isn't too specific. Maybe Natural cleaning? Ecological cleaning? Any comments/suggestions?
I have added this same item to Talk:Green cleaning but could all responses be posted here. Thanks Rogwan 20:21, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I think this article is better written than Green cleaning in terms of NPOV. That image of a rainforest is back, which seems to me a little propagandistic and, as you said yourself, unrelated to cleaning. Also, most of the statements have no citation? Destynova 14:12, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
After rereading, I see that this one is somewhat one-sided and lacking in sources as well. Ah well. I guess it's normal with new articles? Destynova 14:17, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
