Degree Benefits
The Division of Natural Sciences and Engineering provides degree programs, pre-professional options, research opportunities, internships, clubs, and scholarships. A popular choice for students are pre-professional options such as pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, and pre-physical therapy. These and other programs are designed to meet the prerequisites for entry into professional programs.
Entry into the professional programs is on a competitive basis. Some pre-professional tracks require that students complete a minimum of 90 semester hours of undergraduate credit (about 3 years of work at USC Upstate) before entry is possible into the professional program. Although the professional programs may not require a B.S. degree for entrance, most students gaining entrance do complete a B.S. degree.
These pre-professional tracks are:
• Pre-medical • Pre-occupational therapy • Pre-dental • Pre-speech language pathology • Pre-optometry • Pre-medical technology • Pre-veterinary medicine • Pre-cytotechnology • Pre-physical therapy • Pre-chiropractic • Pre-physician assisting
