[edit] School History

Ground was broken on May 5, 1957, for the school building at Street and York Roads in Warminster Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend John M. Healy, the first pastor of Nativity of Our Lord parish. Construction was completed in time for the opening of the 1958 school year. The school opened its doors to students for the first time on September 3, 1958.

The school was originally staffed by three Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chestnut Hill and two lay teachers. The original building was actually a school-hall, with the lower floor used as the church and the upper floor used as the school. In 1964, an addition was added in order to meet the growing student population. The present-day church was erected at the west end of the school building, and the lower floor of the school-hall was made into eight additional classrooms and administrative offices. In September of 1965, an extension was added to the east end of the building, adding additional classrooms and doubling the building's length. The school structure remained the same until 1988. Under the direction of the parish's third pastor. the Reverend William J.J. O'Donnell, a new wing was added, providing additional classrooms and a computer laboratory. The new wing was named the Father Healy Annex for the first pastor of the parish and the school's founder.

[edit] Mission Statement

Nativity of Our Lord is a Catholic School community primarily serving the suburban people of Warminster, Jamison, Richboro, and Churchville, under the guidance and direction of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the pastor of Nativity of Our Lord Parish. We provide self-contained and departmentalized instruction employing flexible grouping and cooperative learning. While striving to motivate students toward self-learning and the ability to work with and learn from others, we emphasize the student's relationship with God and His people. We maintain high academic standards and a commitment to Christian values which includes service to both the local and world communities.

[edit] School Philosophy

The faculty of Nativity of Our Lord is committed to supporting our parents, who are the primary educators of their children, by encouraging the awareness of God's presence in the children's lives through the reinforcement of the morals and values taught in the home. We envision ourselves as giving our children a wealth of experiences, concepts, and information that help them to enjoy the wonders of life now and attain the fullest development of their human potential in future years.

In all these undertakings, we recognize and affirm that the development of the child must be a partnership among faculty, parents, and the entire Church community. We share mutual responsibility for the success of these educational endeavors which build up not only our school community but the entire Body of Christ. We believe that to succeed in the classroom we need the cooperation of homes where virtue is practiced, serious study is encouraged, and the authority of the school is supported.
