The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) is a public university located at several campuses in Pakistan. The main campus is located in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. It offers undergraduate and post graduate degrees in the fields of engineering, information technology (IT), medical sciences and management sciences. Formed by pooling together military and civil educational resources, it has rapidly emerged as one of the leading engineering institutes of the country. NUST was ranked 20th in a survey of science and technology schools in the Asia-Pacific region in 2000 by AsiaWeek[1].

NUST consists of affiliated colleges located in several cities of Pakistan including:

It has also recently started a Technology Incubation Center in Islamabad to bridge the gap between its faculty and students and the industry.

[edit] Relegations and Withdrawals

A notable event in the history of NUST is the relegation/Withdrawal of many a student. In 2005, despite the strict rules and regulations of the university, the issue was taken seriously by many leading authorities of the nation. The reason behind this acute accusation was the institute's rough and machinary behaiviour towards the students, for most of the university campuses. Further investigations led to reveal some of the third or fourth year students who were expelled during thier four year Engineering degree program at College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. This rule which the university follows is very common in North American universities. But unfortunately in Pakistan, this new law is taken very lightly, and as a result students suffer the consequences of unexpected, yet unfortunate future. It is noteworthy that same situation has been observed at GIKI too. After being expelled, most of the Engineering students head to UET, another prestigious institute in Lahore, Pakistan.
