National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan)

The National Symphony Orchestra (Traditional Chinese: 國家交響樂團, as known as NSO) is one of the leading orchestras in Taiwan. Formerly known as the Experimental Symphony Orchestra (Traditional Chinese: 聯合實驗交響樂團), it was established in 1986 by the Ministry of Education of Republic of China. On August 1, 2005, the orchestra became an artistic affiliate of the National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center (National Theater and National Concert Hall).

In September 2002, NSO holds a series of 5 concerts featured all nine symphonies and five piano concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven, it became NSO's "Subscription concerts" in the 2004/2005 season, featuring one particular composer in each season. From October 2006 to June 2007, there will be 10 concerts and 1 opera in honor of German composer Richard Strauss.
