National Student Leadership Conference

NSLC (National Student Leadership Conference) is a career-focused Leadership Conferences for Outstanding High School Students. The NSLC is sponsored by the National Student Leadership Foundation, a 501(c)(3), non profit, non-partisan, educational organization.
Since 1989, tens of thousands of outstanding high school students from across the United States and more than 45 countries have come to the NSLC to explore the qualities of leadership and get an insider’s perspective on some of today’s most exciting and important professions.
NSLC students have had the opportunity to meet with and learn from prominent national and world leaders including Supreme Court Justices, Cabinet Secretaries, ambassadors, diplomats, renowned surgeons and medical researchers, business leaders, artists and engineers.
The NSLC is supported by an Honorary Board of Advisors consisting of more than 300 Senators, Congressional Representatives, Medical Professionals, and Ambassadors.
A teaching faculty of distinguished and recognized scholars along with group leaders from prestigious universities and graduate schools give NSLC students an unmatched educational experience.
NSLC students can earn 1-, 2-, or 3-college credits from American University. College credits can be transfered to most colleges and universities.
Students at the NSLC participate in leadership workshops, career-focused lectures and simulations, and fieldtrips.
NSLC hosts conferences in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, CA, and New York that are open to students from across the United States and around the world. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Conferences are held at American University, the University of Maryland, Fordham University, and the University of California. Conference topics include: Law and Advocacy, Entrepreneurship and Business, U.S. Policy and Politics, Intelligence and National Security, Forensic Science, Mastering Leadership, Medicine and Health Care, Engineering, Inside the Arts, International Diplomacy, Journalism & Mass Communication, Forensic Science and Globalization & International Business. The NSLC also offers a Study Abroad program in Geneva, Switzerland.
The NSLC offers a community service-based leadership program for students in specific states. The NSLC State Leadership Workshop is offered for students in 25 states including: Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia. Students in this program participate in small group leadership workshops while creating a statewide service project to be implemented during the school year following the program.
The National Student Leadership Conference is listed as an approved activity on the National Association of Secondary School Principals List of Student Contests and Activities.
