[edit] About the School

The school is an English medium co-educational school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Government of India and follows the 10+2 educational pattern. The School runs two early learning programs, the Montessori and Kindergarten systems. At the senior secondary level, students are offered the option of studying either Science or Commerce. Each grade level has three sections, each comprising no more than 45 students. In the annual Outlook Magazine ratings, the school was placed second in the city and fifth in the nation. [1]

[edit] Academic standards

Every year, the school produces 100% distinction results in the AISSE and AISSCE examinations, with the highest aggregates often crossing 98%. Many students enter the Indian Institutes of Technology, NLSIU, Shri Ram College of Commerce and St. Stephen's College each year. A few "NPSites" have won international awards in environmental sciences, [2] [3], neurological sciences [4], and international olympiads [5] At the national and city level, students consistently excel in quizzing [6] [7], debating [8] and creative writing events [9].

[edit] The Houses

Students are admitted to one of four houses:

  • Challengers
  • Explorers
  • Pioneers
  • Voyagers

Each house has its distinct identity and house heritage. The Challengers, in their scarlet, aim "To strive, to seek, to find but not to yield" (a line written by Lord Alfred Tennyson). The Explorers, dressed in purple, "Endeavour to Reach Beyond". The Pioneers, in amber, are "The light that always shows, the spark that always glows". The Voyagers, in sky blue, proclaim "Vigour, Valour, Victory". The winner of the House Cup each year is determined on the basis of results of a number of activities, including quizzing, debating, writing, singing, dancing, and games and athletics. In the past five years, each of the four houses has laid their hands on the trophy once.

The school is divided into three academic blocks. The school has a Science lab for the seniors and juniors, housing separate sections for the Physics, Chemistry and Biology Departments. The Computer Science lab consists of over 150 computers. In addition, the school has a Library. The School follows a Prefectorial system wherein one student is handed charge of the student body. A few students of Grades IX to XII are elected to preside over clubs. Clubs include Science, Mathematics, Computers, Literary, Commerce, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Music, Quizzing and the News Desk. The overall student government body comprises close to 60 members and is reigned in at an official Investiture Ceremony.
