National Optimism Fortnight
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
National Optimism Fortnight is an annual celebration of optimistic behavior aimed at raising morale during the winter months.
The first NOF took place in February 2006. Originally scheduled as a one-week event to combat the winter months and a struggling basketball team at Southeast Polk High School, in Altoona, Iowa. Andrew McGrean and Ryan Ingram, tiring of the general negativity that was becoming so prevalent, declared the celebration. Participants agreed to attempt to view things in a positive and optimistic light in exchange for a general cheery feeling that proceeded it.
The 2007 edition begins February 5, and will be celebrated by students at dozens of schools in states across the Midwestern United States and Canada.
