National Museum of History

Museum of National History (Museo Nacional de Historia) is located in the first section of the Chapultepec Park inside the Chapultepec Castle.
It hosts 12 showrooms that house objects from various stages in mexican history (History of Mexico), including the foundation of the Spanish Empire (known in Mexico as “The Conquest”), the New Spain and the Viceregal era, the Mexican War of Independence, the Reform movement and the Revolution of 1910 (Mexican Revolution).
On the top floor, in addition to a library, there are two sections with dioramas recreating rooms of the castle during the time when Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico (von Habsburg) resided there with his wife Princess Charlotte of Belgium (also known as Empress Carlota of Mexico).
The museum also hosts a garden area and an old observatory. It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 to 5:00.
