From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

National Missing Persons Helpline (NMPH) is a British charity established in 1993 to find missing and unidentified people and support those who are left behind.

NMPH has the most detailed 'missing' database in the country, registering both vulnerable and non-vulnerable missing people. The charity also offers its services to organisations outside the family circle; the police, social workers, hospitals, care homes, foster homes and international organisations.

Other services provided by the charity include: Runaway Helpline (Freefone 0808 800 7070) for young people away from home or care and Message Home for missing adults to pass a message home (Freefone 0800 700 740).

NMPH has more than 130 volunteers and a staff of more than 60 employees. The charity is led by CEO Paul Tuohy. The charity was founded by two sisters, Mary Asprey OBE and Janet Newman OBE following the disappearance of Suzy Lamplugh.

Vice Patrons of the charity include Sir Trevor McDonald, Richard Branson and Stephen Gately.

NMPH is a charity dependent on donations.[1]
