A National Karate Champion A National Karate Champion is aMartial Artist)or Karateka who has proven themselves in a National level AA or AAA class Tournament by winning any particular category in any division.

There are many different Fighting styles and Martial Arts. A style is nothing more than a discipline. Some tournaments are for one particular style only others are open tournaments, meaning open to all disciplines. The following are examples of martial arts styles: Isshin-Ryu, Shotokan, Kenpo, Kempo, Okinawen Shorrin-Ryu, Tae-Kwon-Do, Tang-Soo-Do, the list continues on and on.

Competition is in three main areas generally. Kata or Forms, Weapons and Breaking are usually the main areas of competition.

Generally speaking there are anywhere from 10 to 15 different divisions, The divisions are broken down by level of training experience, sex and age bracket. Training experience is generally decided by belt color.

Rules are typically governed by a sponsoring or overseeing authoritative Martial Arts Association or Organization.
