National Collegiate Wrestling Association

The National Collegiate Wrestling Association(NCWA) is a post secondary athletic association built to help the promotion of collegiate wrestling. The organization is compiled of wrestling clubs from primarily across the country; many of these were formerly scholarship programs which where affected by Title IX legislation, which has resulted in many college wrestling programs being forced to give up scholarships and/or varsity sport status in the name of gender equity. The variety of institutions competing in the NCWA is wide and unrestricted as junior colleges, trade schools and post secondary prep institutions do compete in the same competition as four year college and universities; the 2002 admittance of Douglas College also marks as the institutions only Canadian institution.
The NCWA is combined into seven regional conferences there is currently plans that with the increasing expansion of members the NCWA is planing on expanding into a Division 1 & 2 separation among its institutions; there is also some consideration into having the NCWA expand into becoming the United States first collegiate association for women's collegiate wrestling.

Advantages of the NCWA
- The organization and its members openly encourages wrestlers to compete no matter what the experience level even novice/beginners
- Several NCWA members have gone on to become recognized varsity athletic institutions in the NJCAA, NCAA & NAIA.
- Several NCWA All Americans have gone on to be NCAA All Americans
- Its a good format for the average wrestlers who still have the passion to compete in the sport they love.
