National Car Parks (NCP) is the United Kingdom's leading car park owner as well as a major parking enforcement service provider. Founded in 1931, NCP has expanded into car park design, construction, and operation (including for third parties under licence), parking enforcement, and more recently bus services (being awarded two bus route contracts in West London).
In 1998, NCP was purchased by Cendant (a US-based real estate and travel services provider). In 1999, NCP divested itself of Green Flag roadside assistance which was sold to Direct Line. In 2002, UK-based Cinven purchased NCP from Cendant, which in turn agreed to sell NCP to 3i in July 2005. 3i has said it will continue to grow NCP as a service-oriented and public-outsourcing company.
