Nathaniel Schmidt

Nathaniel Schmidt, A.M. (1862–1939) was an American Orientalist, born at Hudiksvall, Sweden, and educated at the Gymnasium of his native town. In the United States he attended Colgate University. He also studied in Germany at the University of Berlin. He was professor of Semitic languages and literatures at Colgate University (1888-1896). Schmidt held the same position at Cornell University afterwards. In 1914 he served as president of the Society of Biblical Literature and Exegesis. His publications include:
