Nathaniel Allen

Nathaniel Allen (1780 — December 22, 1832) was a United States Representative from New York.
Allen was born in what is now East Bloomfield, Ontario County, New York before the town was established. He worked as a blacksmith before becoming postmaster in Honeoye Falls (1811), a militia officer during the War of 1812 and a New York Assemblyman in 1812. He was Sheriff of Ontario County (1814 -1819).
Nathaniel Allen was elected the 16th United States Congress for one term, 1819-1921. Afterwards he was supervisor of the Town of Richmond.
Allen died while conducting business in Louisville, Kentucky, but he was buried in Ontario County.
