Natalie Teeger

Natalie Jane Davenport Teeger is a fictional character on the television show Monk. She became Adrian Monk's assistant after Monk's nurse Sharona Fleming left. Her character is played by Traylor Howard.
Natalie has a 13 year-old daughter named Julie, and she worked in a bar before becoming Adrian's assistant. Her husband Mitch, who was a Navy fighter pilot, was killed in Kosovo in 1998. Julie has been raised to believe that her father died heroically, but in fact the details of his death are very murky, and he may have been trying to desert when he was killed. Natalie replaces Julie's pet fish, "Mr. Henry" (really a series of identical fish that had only lived about a year each), each year so Julie can keep the only thing that's left of her father.
Natalie also worked as a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas for two years while her husband was still alive, and she is a recovering gambler. She also worked in an office for two weeks before she quit, unable to stand the same routine every day. She spent time in a jail in Vermont for throwing a man through a window in order to protect a friend. The summer after Natalie completed high school, she worked in a shopping mall where her boss "liked her a bit too much". Natalie once killed a burglar with her daughter's scissors. This incident led to her meeting Adrian Monk. She drove a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee until late 2006, when she got a Buick Lucerne (probably due to Buick's sponsorship of the show).
Natalie comes from an extremely wealthy family who own the "third largest toothpaste manufacturer in the world", Davenport Toothpaste. Her decision to marry a "common" man has estranged her from her parents, Bobby and Peggy Davenport. Natalie has a brother, Jonathan, whom she rescued from his murderous new wife, Theresa, who married him to get at the family fortune. However, Natalie's subduing of Theresa at the wedding seems to have started a reconcilation with her family as Adrian and Natalie have a friendly brunch with her parents in a later episode. Natalie is confident, cocky, and fits in well with her employer and friend, Monk, and his circle of colleagues.

- Natalie Teeger replaces Sharona Fleming, who was played by Bitty Schram. Bitty (Elizabeth)'s middle name is Natalie.
