[edit] Audience Prize Secures Theatrical Release
The bulk of the program does however consist of titles not picked up for Danish distribution. Each year a number of these secure theatrical release or TV-sale in Denmark as a direct result of successful festival screenings.
All participating films without a prior distribution deal for Denmark compete for the audience prize of 125.000 DKK (appr. 20.000 US $) - earmarked for the theatrical release of the winning film in Denmark.
Furthermore Danmarks Radio (DR) is also part of the Audience Prize. The winning title will be aired on DR after the film's box office premiere.
In 2004 the festival also introduced a new Critics Award.
Eight films from the year's programme, all debut films or sophomore outings from a selected director, have been nominated, and will be judged by three international critics.
The Critics' Prize is sponsored by TV5MONDE and comes with a stipend of 25.000 DKK, and will be announced at the festival's Closing Gala.
