NATO deployment in the Republic of Macedonia

The NATO deployment in the Republic of Macedonia (code-named Operation "Essential Harvest" or Task Force Harvest, by NATO) was officially launched on August 22, 2001 and effectively started on August 27. This 30-day mission involved the sending of approximately 3500 NATO troops in the Republic of Macedonia, with logistical support, to disarm ethnic Albanian groups and destroy their weapons.
