Eastern mudsnails (Nassarius obsoletus) are very common, small, subtidal gastropods in the western Atlantic Ocean from Nova Scotia to Georgia.

Gastropod Key..... Lives in inertidal zones, sounds and inlets. 1/2 inch small shell with a slightly rough surface. Weak spiral and axial ribs. Lower canal on oval aperture. Smooth inner lip withpartial sheild. Outer lip thin and smooth. Chalky white exterior, covered by dark brown periostracum.
