NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database

The NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED) is a database funded by NASA that collates astronomical information about objects outside the Milky Way. NED is operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, under contract with NASA.

As of 15 January 2007, it indexes 9.5 million astronomical objects with 14.7 million cross-identifications in multiple wavelengths, redshift measurements for 1.3 objects, 25.2 million photometric measurements, 3.6 million diameter measurements and 2.3 million images, maps and external links, together within links to journal articles, notes and abstracts.
