Narodowe Odrodzenie Polski (National Revival of Poland) is a Far Right, nationalist ("national radical", "national revolutionist"), racist (antisemitic) marginal political party in Poland, a member of European National Front, and a co-founder of International Third Position.
It was founded in 1981 at a nationalist youth's discussion forum. In 1992 it registered as a political party. This ideological party doesn't enjoy any particular support in Poland, and in the 2005 elections to Polish Parliament it received 7,376 votes out of 11,804,676 votes that were cast (or 0.06% of the vote)[1]. In the 2006 Self-government regional elections NOP received 41,652 votes that were cast 0,64% of the votes.
NOP is the oldest Polish nationalist organization since the Second World War.[citation needed] The development of NOP from its day of creation (10th November, 1981) has been undergoing significant internal changes: starting as the nationalist youth's discussion forum, it became from 1983, a well-regulated national-revolutionary movement having a distinct ideology. The movement was always typified by a strong challenge orientation.
In November 1983 they started publishing "Jestem Polakiem" (I am a Pole) - the first and for a long time the sole nationalist underground magazine in Poland. In 1985 NOP founded the underground Publishing House "Jestem Polakiem" which published more than 100 books, brochures and magazines, for example "Szczerbiec" (the name of Polish royal coronation sword), "Młodzież Narodowa" ("National Youth"), "Myśl" ("The Thought"), and "Biuletyn NOP". The publishing house was closed after 1989 and the collapse of the Communist regime. During the Communist era NOP militants took part in direct action organizing manifestations and student strikes.
The movement is a co-founder of the International Third Position which is the forum assembling political groups presenting similar ideological orientation.
NOP proclaims necessity of the fight against "demoliberal system" on the way of National Revolution.
[edit] Antisemitism
In 2006, NOP was involved in campaigning to free convicted Holocaust denier and ultra right wing activist David Irving from prison in Austria, and suggested that David Irving's denial of the Holocaust were truthful, with a poster image stating, "David Irving - Uwolnić prawdę" ("David Irving - Free the truth").[1]. It also expressed support for the bombing of Israel at the time of the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict, with a poster image stating, "Bomby na Izrael - Już czas!!!" ("Bombs against Israel - it's about time!!!").[2]
On August 13, 2006, NOP leader Adam Gmurczyk published a declaration on behalf of the NOP Executive Council titled "Izrael musi zostać zniszczony!" (Israel must be destroyed!) referring to "judaistycznej zacieklosci i nienawisci" (Jewish loathing and hatred), calling for the introduction of "miedzynarodowych sił militarnych na tereny żydowskie oraz przejęcie całkowitej kontroli nad Izraelem" (an international military force on Jewish territory as well as taking over entire control of Israel) and "Ważnym aktem będzie wyzwolenie Jerozolimy i uczynienie z niej wolnego miasta. Nadzór administracyjny powinien być oddany w gestie powszechnie poważanej głowy Kościoła katolickiego, Benedykta XVI, i jego następców." (An important action will be to free Jerusalem and make it a free city. Administrative control should be placed in the hands of the universally respected head of the Catholic Church Pope Benedict XVI, and his successors.)[3]
