Naroda

Naroda is a suburban town of Ahmedabad. It was incorporated in Ahmedabad in approximately 1996. It is predominantly a Hindu town with a majority of Patel, Panchal, and Vyas surnames. With establishment of Naroda Industrial Area in the 1980s, the town flourished; it is now a part of Ahmedabad City. Naroda is approximately three miles from Ahmedabad, located along the National Highway No. 8.

Naroda GIDC has national and multinational units such as Reliance Industries Ltd., Pepsi Co, Ingersoll, Dreserland, and various chemical and textile industries, including Umiya Textile and Nirman Textile. Pharmaceutical companies include Dishman, Tuton, Westcost, and Maccore.

Naroda features beautiful temples such as Ranchodrai, Satyanarayan, and Padmavati Jain. Tourists may also peruse a recently developed lake and the world's largest collection of antique cars. India's famous Samrat Namkin is also part of Naroda.

Naroda-Patiya was also the location where scores of Muslims were murdered and ethnically-cleansed out of the area during the 2002 communal riots in the state.
