Narahar Vishnu Gadgil

Narahar Vishnu Gadgil was an Indian freedom fighter and one of its chief political leaders in Maharashtra.

Upon Indian independence, Gadgil became the Minister for Public Works in the first Indian Cabinet led by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Gadgil's Ministry undertook the project of building a military-calibre road from Pathankot to Srinagar via Jammu in Kashmir, during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1947. He is the author of the book Government from Inside.
