Napier Road

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Napier Road is situated Karachi, Pakistan named after Charles Napier, the first British Governor of the Sindh province.

The road is the principal red light district of Karachi. Because prostitution is illegal in Pakistan, the majority of Napier Road's brothels masquerade as dancing halls and theatres. The women refer to themselves as entertainers doing mujras, and arrangements for sexual services are usually made through private pimps.

[1] Approximately 1,000 of Karachi's 20,000 commercial sex workers are believed to operate within the district.
