Namiki Gohei was the name of four Japanese Kabuki actors and playwrights. Only two of them were related; in Japan, it was common for artists and writers to take the name of predecessors whom they admired.

  • Namiki Gohei I (1747-1808) was a prolific kabuki playwright and actor.
  • Namiki Gohei II (1768-1819) was an admirer who took Gohei's name. He was an actor, critic, and the author of one play.
  • Namiki Gohei III (1789-1855) was a disciple of Gohei II and took his name. He wrote little of note except for the extremely popular and now-famous play, Kanjinchō.
  • Namiki Gohei IV (1829-1901) was a son of Gohei III.
