Nakhon Phanom (referred to as Nakhom Phanom) is a town in Thailand, capital of the Nakhon Phanom Province.
It is also the location of Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai Air Force Base (RTAB). During the Vietnam War it was a front-line base of the United States Air Force. It is situated nine miles west of Nakhon Phanom city in Nakhon Phanom Province, on the banks of the Mekong River 365 miles (584 kilometers) north-northeast of Bangkok.
It is on the northern border of Thailand, separated from Laos by the Mekong River.
