Nakatane (中種子町 Nakatane-chō?) is a town located on Tanegashima (Tanega Island) in Kumage District, Kagoshima, Japan.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 9,473 and the density of 68.75 persons per km². The total area is 137.78 km².
