Naiche

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Naiche (c. 1856-1919) was the second son of Cochise and Dos-Teh-Seh, the older one being Chief Taza.

During his adolescence, Naiche's brother Chief Taza died from Spaniards that settled in the area now known as "Citrus Springs" (after the Spaniards found what they thought was the (translated) the Spring of Life)

Upon the death of Cochise, Naiche became the chief of the tribe and sought revenge on the Florida Spaniards. He successfully killed and conquered the men from Spain. After killing them he moved the tribe south to Mexico where they settled and expanded.

His tribe decided to bury him near "The Spring of Life" where his brother rests.
