Nahanni Butte, Northwest Territories

Nahanni Butte (Slavey language: The nago "strong rock") is a "Designated Authority"[1] in the Dehcho Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. The community is located at the confluence of the Liard and South Nahanni Rivers in the southwestern part of the NWT.

Although not normally accessible by road a winter road is constructed yearly and an all-season road is being built.

Population is 107 according to the 2001 Census.[2]

The Dene of the community are represented by the Nahanni Butte Dene Band and belong to the Dehcho First Nations.[3]
