Nafanua

Nafanua is the name and title of a historical woman chief of Samoa who instituted the protocols of the "fono" councils of the Samoa Islands and the "fa'amatai" chiefly system organized under these protocols.

Nafanua is also the name of the Samoan warrior goddess who according to legend, helped the Samoans win their freedom from Tonga. She is the daughter of Saveasi'uleo and Tilafaiga.

Nafanua is a Pacific-class patrol boat operated by the Samoa Police Department. It was provided to Samoa by the Australian Government as part of the Pacific Patrol Boat Program.
