Farkash grew up in a poor neighborhood in South Tel Aviv, Israel. Already as a youngster his exceptional qualities and immense physical strength were noted. He won the Israeli championship in boxing.

In the late 1950s and early 1960s he got in trouble with the law. He was somewhat of a small time gangster and he was incarcerated several times. He did not stay in jail for long however, as he escaped from several prisons. Most of his crimes were petty, though he was connected to a robbery and alleged attempted murder.

In his later years he lived a solitary life in the caves of Beit Jann in the Mount Meron area of the Galilee.
