Naïm Kattan

Naïm Kattan (born August 26, 1928) is a Canadian novelist, essayist and critic.
Born in Baghdad, Iraq, he studied at the University of Baghdad from 1945 until 1947 and at the Sorbonne from 1947 until 1951. He emigrated to Montreal in 1954. He is the author of more than 30 books, translated into several languages.

- In 1983 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
- In 1990 he was made a Knight of the National Order of Quebec.
- In 2002 he was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur, for his lifelong contribution to international francophone culture.
- In 2004 he received the Prix Athanase-David.
- In 2004 he received an honoris causa Ph.d. from the University of Novi Sad in Serbia
