This article needs a name change, it should definately be called the NSW Open, which is what it is. The fact that it is a professional tournament doesn't change this fact.

While this tournament may be previously or unofficially known under a different name, Medibank Private is the naming rights sponsor, and as such the tournament is now known as the Medibank International. This article should reflect the fact that this is the accepted name of the tournament, so no change is necessary.--Phil500 (Talk / Contribs) 04:52, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HMMMM

Your point is not valid because the naming rights sponsor of the Austraian Open is Kia, yet the Article is not called the Kia Australian Open is it??? I think i have a very valid point.THE MILJAKINATOR 09:53, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

The Australian Open is so-named because that's what the tournament officials, in conjunction with corporate sponsors, decide to calll it. Check out the tournament's official website here [2]. There is no reference to the tournament being titled the "NSW Open" - all media coverage, press releases etc. refer to the tournament as the Medibank International. The official site itself uses the title "Medibank International." There is no need to change this article's title because that is the name that the tournament gives itself. Changing the article's title will not reflect the true name of the tournament.--Phil500 (Talk / Contribs) 23:27, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes it is called the Medibank International but it still is the NSW Open under a different name. I play at the Sydney International Tennis Centre and on the board where it saya NSW Open it lists the winners of the Adidas and Medibank Internationals. This tournament is still the NSW Open even if the naming rights sponsor is the Medibank International. I suggest we put both in the name i.e Medibank International/NSW Open. I hope you have no objection to this.THE MILJAKINATOR 09:48, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
I wasn't aware of the winners board - thanks for bringing it to my attention. Including both names sounds like a good compromise, I'm happy to go with that. Perhaps the page NSW Open should also be created, redirecting to this article for people who are unaware of the "Medibank International" part.--Phil500 (Talk / Contribs) 02:43, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
