History The Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) program was established by Congress as part of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps Vitalization Act of 1964 under authority of Public Law passed by the U.S. Congress and contained in Title 10, United States Code, Chapter 102, Section 2031. The program went into effect in the fall of 1966 in high schools across the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, and inside U.S. Navy bases in Japan and Italy. The NJROTC Program is administered by the Chief of Naval Education and Training (CNET) located in Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, and locally supervised by the NJROTC Area Four Manager located at the Naval Air Station, Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. The purpose of the NJROTC program is to promote patriotism, develop informed and responsible citizens, promote habits of orderliness and precision, develop a high degree of personal honor, self reliance, individual discipline and leadership, promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security, develop respect for and an understanding of the need for constituted authority in a democratic society, and provide information about the military services as a possible career. History of the Seaford High School NJROTC Unit The NJROTC Unit at Montwood High School, was started in 1996, and they have had numerous instructors.


Special Teams There are many different teams that a cadet can join in the unit. They are the Rifle(Marksmanship), Academic, Color Guard, Armed Drill, Un-Armed Drill , Armed Exhibition, Un-Armed Exhibition, Physical Fitness Team Orienteering, and Sword Teams. They Drill Teams practice from 0645-0730 from Monday-Friday. The other teams' practices are posted on the board in the Naval Science room.
