N. S. Madhavan

N S Madhavan is a writer of fiction in Malayalam. He started writing when he was a student. 'Sisu' a short story which won the first prize in a contest organised by a Malayalam weekly magazine, Mathrubhumi in 1971 was his first literary attempt of note. Since then he has come out with four collections of short stories, a novel and two plays. His collections of short fiction are:
''Higuita'', ''Thiruth'', ''Chulamedile Savangal'', ''Paryaya Kathakal''.
He has also ventured into writing novels with his debut Lanthanbatheriyile Luthiniyakal 2004 which has gone into seven editions. Madhavan is a short story writer in Malayalam. His art gives importance to minute details and exemplifies the manifest skill and compact craft that short fiction as a genre demands. In Madhavan the subtle connections of criss-crossing dialogues and interlacing plots ultimately reveal an integrated narrative continnum. N S Madhavan's contribution to the genre of short story, which is dying in most parts of the world, is unique and noteworthy. By profession, N.S. Madhavan is an I.A.S officer serving as Secretary and Commissioner in the Planning and Development Department in Bihar. Madhavan is married and has a daughter.
