N-II was the former name for the Route Nacional from Madrid to Barcelona and France. The majority of the road has now been re-named A-2.

The section north of Barcelona to the border crossing at La Jonquera is still named the N-II. It becomes the N9 in France. Most of the traffic formerly carried by the road now takes the AP-7. The road is in the process of being dualled and now by-passes the major towns of Girona and Figueres.
