Niacin, also known as nicotinic acid or vitamin B3, is a water-soluble vitamin whose derivatives such as NADH, NAD, NAD+, and NADP play essential roles in energy metabolism in the living cell and DNA repair.

I am Mysid, a Wikipedia editor and biology student from Finland. I've been creating, translating and improving articles related (mostly) to my home country and radio, my favorite hobby. I've also utilized my knowledge of CorelDRAW I gained in secondary school to draw flags (User:Mysid/flags) and to improve some graphics spoiled by inappropriate compression schemes (User:Mysid/vectors). I also do macro photography, just for fun, and have taken some pictures for Wikipedia (User:Mysid/otherimages).

I maintain the articles on national parks of Finland. I am also an administrator and like to do newpage patrolling and deletion backlog cleaning (see my deletion log). Sometimes I like to answer questions at the Reference Desk.

The main reason for me being a Wikipedian is the wikiholism. But I also believe that by contributing to this project I at the same time contribute to mutual understanding between people around the world; and that by sharing my knowledge I help the small Earthling cope in this ever-hardening world.
