Mystical Order of the Temple of the Rosy Cross

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1912, Annie Besant, Marie Russak and James Wedgwood founded the Order of the Temple of the Rosy Cross. However, due to the numerous problems originated in England during the First World War, the activity was suspended.

Besant returned to her tasks as World President of the Theosophical Society, Wedgwood continued working as bishop of the Liberal Catholic Church; and Russak, contacted Harvey Spencer Lewis in California, to whom he helped in the elaboration of the rituals of the Order Rosicrucian AMORC.

At the end of the 20th century, in Latin America the interest in iniciatic orders was revived, mainly those related with the spiritual traditions of the West. In those days, a member of the Theosophical Society, known in the rosicrucian circles as Frater Initiator, began to work for the re-foundation of the OTRC.

At the moment, work is being done in several countries for the rebirth of the Order of the Temple of the Rosy Cross (OTRC) with the new name of Mystical Order of the Temple of the Rosy Cross (MOTRC). The official creation is planned for the year 2012, 100 years after the original foundation.

[edit] Principles of the organization

Slogan: Lux Veritatis

Work: Based in the maxim of the alchemists Ora et Labora, the OMTRC establishes two types of meetings: Oratory (where diverse topics related to the Occult Tradition are investigated) and Laboratory (or Convocation, where they realize rituals and a variaty of spiritual practices).

Grades: The Order has three grades of initiation: Neophyte, Pilgrim and Master. Nevertheless, as well as the authors of the Theosophy, the difference between a ritual and a real Initiation is emphasized, reason why this outline of grades is symbolic and it does not have any relation with the spiritual progress of each member.

The Order has several postulates or bases in which sustains its work:

  • Belief in an Absolute Being.
  • Integral develop of the human being.
  • The foment of the fraternal love.
  • Absolute no charge for the teachings.
