[edit] Realm of the Five
[edit] introduction
Mystic Realm's first fantasy universe. This world focuses on players attempts to build a sense of community with the other characters and the world around them while dealing with ambitious emperors, angered and bloodthirsty mythical creatures, and interdimensional conquerors. Participants add to the game environment by forming military and religious orders, sitting together for feasts, arranging games, performing in after feast entertainment, and other activities. Player-versus-player (PVP) interactions where one person's personal character could attack another person's personal character is not allowed. Instead, all personal characters are the game protagonists, and the antagonists are portrayed by those who volunteered to be cast members for that particular event. These events typically consist of 60-120 players depending on the season.
[edit] Races and cultures
As in many fantasy Games, players have the option of playing many of the different races and cultures represented in the realm.
[edit] Beard'ons
Similar to what could be known as "Dwarves" in other fantasy universes, beard'ons are a race of miners, builders and inventors identifiable by their long beards that are worn by both their women and men. (The only difference between beard'ons and dwarves are that beard'ons can be any height, a distinction made to allow any player to play a beard'on should they desire). Beard'ons live in excavated mountain halls and fortresses, which are part of an underground world known as underrealm. Glitterspike Hall is their capital fortress, where they grow Glitterspike trees, a coveted ingredient in many poisons and rituals used in this realm. Beardon society has been divided into two social groups: Civilians and Ragers. Civilians are the miners, artisans, and aristocracy. Ragers are a group of berserking warriors.
[edit] Elves
Elves originally were one race with a single culture. Near the end of the Age of Life, there was a civil war that divided the elves into 4 racial castes.
-
- High Elves
- These elves constituted the winning faction of the civil war. They are conservative traditionalists who ruled ast the aristocratic elite of the Elder Tree Valley, the elven homeland, until the valley was recently devastated.
- Low Elves
- Low Elves were among the factions defeated by the High Elves who decided to live as a servant caste rather than to be banished from The Elder Tree Valley.
- Deep Elves
- Deep Elves were the descendants of the defeated in the civil war who chose banishment after the civil war. Unable to live in the trees, they instead live under them, in the tunnels and caverns of Underrealm.
- Sea Elves
- Sea Elves refused to fight their brother elves in war. Instead, they left the Elder Tree Valley chose to live at sea.

[edit] Rakkarins
The Rakkarins are a race of cat-like people organized into various nomadic tribes (Prides) based on their ethnicity, which runs the gamut from housecat-based Rakkarins to all varieties of big cats. They were nearly wiped out by the Orcs at one point in history but have bounced back and many have settled in a city known as the "Fertile City" which hosts populations from all the various Rakkarin tribes.
Rakkarins are also noted for their relatively unique marriage system, in which groups of females generally choose a male to take on as a single mate. The females tend to organizational and familial matters while the male is more of a symbol and protector of the family responsible for more martial affairs.
[edit] Weetles
Weetles are a race of mouse people who reside in the Hollow Hills. They're a happy-go-lucky race; energetic and dangerously attracted to shiny things. Weetles are easily distracted (for all intents and purposes, defeated by) anything shiny, including but not limited to: coins, pendants, shiny stones, spoons, sheilds, plate mail, and treasure. If you're not careful, you may find one 'borrowing' some of your more valuable possessions.
