Myrkr is a fictional planet in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.
It is a largely forested world, home to the ysalamiri, creatures which create bubbles which push back the Force. This ability has evolved to protect them from pack animals called vornskrs, the only known animals that hunt exclusively by sensing the Force.
The ysalamiri are no more than 50 centimetres long. Individual ysalamiri create a bubble of at least 3 metres. Groups can create even larger bubbles. As a result, the entire planet is hidden from the Force to a diameter of 16 kilometers out.
Due to the fact that, because of the ysalamiri, the Force was not present on Myrkr, the Jedi as well as the Sith avoided the planet. The trees of Myrkr's forests also have a high metal content, rendering scanning equipment useless, so the authorities of the Galactic Republic and later the Empire also avoided the planet. Neither Force-users or government enforcement groups could track anyone on the surface, making it a perfect location for smugglers and other criminals, such as Talon Karrde and Mara Jade.
During the New Jedi Order series of books, Myrkr is occupied by an invading alien species called the Yuuzhan Vong. The Yuuzhan Vong use the vornskrs as inspiration for voxyn, a species that they genetically engineer to hunt Jedi.
The voxyn are a great success for the Yuuzhan Vong and succeed in killing many Jedi. In the book Star by Star, a group of Jedi infiltrate the Yuuzhan Vong worldship orbiting Myrkr and destroy both the voxyn-cloning facilities and the voxyn queen, the one voxyn from which all others are made.
Many Jedi die during the mission, including Anakin Solo, son of Han and Leia Solo. Jacen Solo, Anakin's brother, is captured by the Yuuzhan Vong and is thought by his family and friends to be dead.
