Mychael Knight

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mychael Knight (until recently "Michael Knight", born April 11, 1978 in Nuremberg, Germany) is an Atlanta, Georgia-based fashion designer and contestant on the third season of the Bravo network reality television series Project Runway. Mychael was an applicant for the second season of Project Runway, but was not chosen.[1][2]

In Episode 5, Knight designed that week's winning outfit. The challenge involved designing an outfit while drawing inspiration from a specific fashion icon. Knight's outfit was modeled after actress Pam Grier. He earned the right to have his garment, as well as the model he was paired with, be featured in a TRESemmé advertisement for ELLE magazine.[1]

He also won the challenge for Episode 6, which involved the use of materials taken from a recycling plant in the creation of a believable and fashionable outfit. Knight made it to the final runway show (with three other contestants) during Fashion Week in New York. He was selected as "Viewers' Favorite Designer", receiving $10,000. He did not win, but gained a great deal of notoriety from his appearance on the show.[1][3][4]

He is reportedly dating R&B singer Brandy, who made an appearance on the season finale, where she cited Mychael's collection as one of her favorites. He is also working as a on-screen personality doing interviews for a webcasting company called "SeenON!" and has partnered with Starbucks has to create a limited run of customizable t-shirts.[5][6][4][7]
