[edit] Song information

The song is a middle-eastern sounding groove, with background vocals from the popular Israeli singer Ofra Haza. This was Abdul's first music release in 3 years.

The single did not live up to expectations of being a big comeback hit for Abdul. Although it was a moderate success on radio and sales it peaked at a underwhelming #28 on the Billboard Hot 100. It ended up becoming a success in the clubs, becoming #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play Chart.

A popular music video was directed by Michael Haussman. It followed the theme of the song of the middle-eastern sounding track. The video is considered one of Abdul's best, it was also nominated for several MTV Video Music Awards.

"Didn't I Say I Love You" was the b-side to the single written by Elliot Wolf and Stacey Piersa.
