[edit] Episode overview
It's J.D., Turk and Elliot's last day as interns and soon they will become residents. At that point, they realize they have become jaded after working at the hospital for a year, and they decide to treat an old patient, Mr. Bober, aggressively. He really needs the surgery, but does not have the insurance to pay for it. They enlist the help of Dr. Cox, Dr. Wen and Jordan.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart needs a new residency director, and Dr. Kelso tells Dr. Cox that he decided to recommend him for the job.
After Dr. Cox chides Jordan for her predictability, she ends the episode by dropping some bombshells: she tells them all about her ex-husband's feelings for Carla, Elliot's feelings for J.D., Kelso's lies about the new job for Dr. Cox and, to J.D.'s horror, informs Cox that she and J.D. had sex when they first met.
[edit] Trivia
Everyone learns something important about another character in this episode:
- Dr. Cox finally finds out that J.D. has had sex with Jordan and that Dr. Kelso lied to him about the new job.
- J.D. gets to know that Elliot is still interested in him.
- Carla finds out that Dr. Cox is attracted to her and that Turk knew without telling her.
- The beginning of this episode mirrors the beginning of the first episode (My First Day).
- Dr. Cox hugs J.D. but not in an emotional way.
An alternative ending where J.D. finds out that the janitor was only in his head would have been shown if a second season had not been commissioned.
